Abstract

In order to study the effect of biofertilizers and putrescine on yield, photosynthetic pigments and some physiological traits of triticale under water limitation conditions, an experiment as factorial was conducted based on randomized complete block design with three replications at the research farm of University of Mohaghegh Ardabil during 2020. The experimental factors were included irrigation in three levels (full irrigation as control; irrigation withholding at 50% of heading stage and booting stage), application of biofertilizers (no application of biofertilizers as control, application of vermicompost, Mycorrhiza, both application vermicompost and Mycorrhiza), foliar application of putrescine (foliar application with water as control, foliar application of 0.4 and 0.8 mM). The results showed that both application of vermicompost with mycorrhiza and foliar application of 0.8 mM putrescine under irrigation withholding in booting stage increased soluble sugars and proline content (47.54 and 51.03%, respectively) in comparison with no application of biofertilizers and putrescine under full irrigation. Both application biofertilizers and foliar application of 0.8 mM putrescine under full irrigation decreased EC (54.01%) and malondialdehyde (52.17%) but increased total chlorophyll content, carotenoid, quantum yield, nitrogen index, stomatal conductivity and RWC (60.95, 46.03, 42.09, 36.07, 47.85, 57.7% respectively) protein content and grain yield (59.04 and 39.6% respectively) in comparison with no application of biofertilizers and putrescine under irrigation withholding in booting stage. It seems that both application of biofertilizers (vermicompost with mycorrhiza) and foliar application of 0.8 mM putrescine can increase the grain yield of triticale under water limitation conditions by improving the physiological indices.
